Scotchgard Protector is a fluorochemical finish invented by 3M Company. For more than 40 years, the family of Scotchgard  

made this brand name synonymous with protection from soil, stain and water. The product surrounds each individual fibre in  the 

carpet pile with an invisible shield which keeps soil from becoming embedded in the carpet. Thus, dirt tends to lie loosely on the 

surface of the treated carpet and vacuuming is more effective.
